FOCUS
This course will focus on strategies to enhance the leadership skills of the young people and promoting people’s participation in discussion and decision making in collaboration with various stakeholders.
PRINCIPLES AND METHODS
AHI’s basic philosophy is “sharing for self-help.”
This course applies participatory training methodology.
1. LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT THROUGH GROUP PROCESS
This is NOT a technical or theoretical course on how to advance one’s career as a leader or manager.
Participants will learn by working together on case studies, demonstrations, workshops, learning exercises, dialogues, small group discussions, role play, exposure visits, and cultural programs.
2. PARTICIPANTS AS FACILITATORS
The course input will be based on participants' ideas,
skills, and experiences. Participants will become
teachers and advisers as well as learners.
3. LIVE-IN STYLE TRAINING IN INTER-CULTURAL SETTING
Participants will live together in the dormitory with shared rooms within the AHI building. Learning through living together in the dormitory accommodation, including sharing daily living tasks such as cooking breakfast, washing dishes and cleaning dormitory facilities, offers opportunities for participants to work withothers with different cultural backgrounds.
PARTICIPANTS/APPLICANTS
The applicants must be either of (1) Youth leaders who are members of a youth group or (2) NGO workers in charge of youth leadership development and empowerment in the sending organization
and be nominated by the sending organization to which they belong or are working with.
A “team application” for a group of one or two youth leaders and an NGO worker who collaborate in a specific area is also welcome.
Twelve persons will be selected considering the variety of country, combination and matching of participants’ expectations, etc.
For the criteria of the applicants and more details, please check the course outline on our website.
